Laptop for Aerospace Engineering

Hi
I'm currently studying aerospace engineering, and I am looking to buy a laptop that will be able to run all software we use on campus while I'm at home. The software we use includes SolidWorks, Ansys Fluent, Simulia Abaqus, and MatLab.
Any recommendations for laptops or specs I should look at ?
I'd like the laptop I get to last through the four years I'm studying, I'm happy to use the universities facilities but would like something that I can use to run most things from home.

Hi there,

Choosing a laptop can definitely be a bit tricky when everything is getting so much more expensive at the moment!
I am a MEng Mechanical student but I have used all of those softwares you have mentioned above. One tip I think you should look into is how your softwares are delivered - most of those at my university are over AppsAnywhere where the server itself does all the processing and running of the software and your laptop just acts as the screen, meaning you wouldn't have to spend quite so much on a fast running laptop.

If that's not the case for you i would look at getting one with a graphics card as engineering software often requires a fair amount of power in that area, the right laptop for you definitely depends on budget. There are loads of shortlists and reviews online for different engineering needs and budgets that i would recommend you have a look and see.
Personally i have had a great experience with 16inch XPS but that is on the pricier side for student laptops - here's a list of top pics for different criteria's:

Hope this helps
