Essay competition help

So I’m entering a prestigious essay comp (John Locke institute fyi) and I would rlly appreciate some advice! I’m 14yo and love essay writing, but if anyone has any experience or advice it would really help!

My main advice would be to prioritise a clear, well structured argument over trying to sound overly sophisticated. Make sure you’re consistently addressing the specific wording of the question, and that each paragraph explicitly links back to your central thesis. Quality of analysis is far more important than name dropping theorists or using complex vocabulary. Finally, leave sufficient time to refine and proofread clarity, precision and logical flow are what really distinguish stronger essays. Best of luck!
