NTU Disability Support

Hello there, I was wondering if anyone knew what NTU is like for students with special needs? What sort of support is provided?
Hi,

It's great to hear you're thinking about studying at NTU!

We're one of the ~30 universities and higher education providers signed up for the Disabled Students Commitment; meaning we're committed to working collaboratively with students and other organisations to ensure disabled students are well supported at NTU, and can excel both here and after they graduate.

Some information about what that looks like in practice can be found on our Disability Support page. When a student declares a disability or a need for further support as part of their application, the team will get in touch (usually in the May/June before you're due to start) to discuss your particular needs and how the University can best meet them. For some students, this may look like extra time or other exam arrangements, or access to specialised equipment or tools and assistive technologies, or adaptations to accommodation and 1:1 personal assistance. The team are also there throughout the year to discuss your support needs, as these can change in the time you're with us.

I'd recommend having a look at DSA (Disabled Students Allowance) as well - this is here to help cover the extra costs that can arise when studying. The Disability Support team are well versed in helping students apply as well, so do feel free to reach out should you want more information - Email [email protected] or call +44 (0)115 848 2085.

You can hear from Olivia, one of our former students, here about her experience accessing disability support at NTU too!

I hope this helps, let us know if you have any questions!
