international biology olympiad selection round 1 preparation help

hi guys! does anyone have any advice on how to prepare for the next round after the British biology olympiad? i’m a bit lost as I didn’t expect to actually get it, so I’m unsure how much prep is needed/if it’s even worth it to start now since it’s so soon. I’ve heard people recommending reading Campbell biology, but how is everyone else preparing? unlike the ukcho it seems that there’s almost nothing online lol

I think a lot of people are quite lost about this at the moment. In past years, they've asked all students taking part in Round 1 selection to read through a scientific article in advance, but this year they've decided to skip this. It's probably going to end up looking like a mix of a BBO and an IBO paper, but it's hard to say because UKBC haven't said much at all this year. Campbell is definitely a good read, because they tend to base their questions on concepts in there, but familiarity with pure content will only bring you so far. Overall, there are some things you can try for preparation but if there's nothing that candidates have been advised to do in advance then I wouldn't stress too hard over it - a BBO Gold is already a great achievement!
