advice to improve in english lit??

i've gotten good results in poetry unit 1 essays so far, but i'm having trouble with answering verbally in class and forming responses linked to contexts/real world issues that my classmates don't seem to have issue with. it doesn't help when i blank out when trying to respond to a randomly asked question. it's taking a hit on my self esteem and it's the only class where i constantly feel a sense of dread when going in.
i've thought about dropping it multiple times but it's the only class that i got a good grade in gcses for and it's too late to change to another subject anyways. exam board is pearson edexcel if you're wondering

For context, I achieved a grade 9 in GCSE English lit then achieved a C in my y12 mocks but ultimately came out with an A* so I understand how you feel. In my case, I was quite depressed as I was getting quite low grades and everyone in my class excelled in the subject in ways I couldn’t.

In terms of context, do some reading around the era and you can spam that out in your exams. I used Genius to get analysis and context. Once I wrote them down, I committed them to memory.

If you need any tips on A* essay structures, then I am happy to help.

There’s definitely some concern about misuse, like relying on it too heavily or using it to cut corners. But at the same time, people recognize it can help with things like structuring essays or understanding topics. It’s not replacing learning, but it can support it if used carefully. The tone feels cautious but open-minded. AI humanizer connects to that idea of refining AI-generated work so it doesn’t feel obvious or unnatural. Students seem aware that raw output isn’t enough on its own. In the end, it’s more of a study aid than a solution.
