Hey there!
First of all - congrats. 🎉 Getting offers from three solid universities for psychology is a big achievement.
Since you’re choosing between strong options (and likely another offer from NTU), this isn’t about “good vs bad.” It’s about being the best fit for you.

University of Exeter

Strongest academically out of your current offers.

Very well regarded for psychology.

Research-led, good reputation

Quieter, campus-based environment.

Will be slightly more expensive day to day and for rent etc

University of Leicester

Solid, established university.

Good Psychology department.

More city-based than Exeter.

More nightlife, closer to cities like Notts (where I am!), Bham and Manchester

Anglia Ruskin University (ARU)

More modern university.

More practical/teaching-focused

I'm not particularly sure about the nightlife there, but it would be good to research that if that interests you!

If You Get an Offer From Nottingham Trent University
NTU is:

Very student-focused.

Strong for employability and student satisfaction.

Lively, modern environment.

Amazing nightlife and experiences!

Where do you think you’d actually thrive? Because being somewhere you feel comfortable, motivated, and supported can matter more than moving up a few ranking spots. You should research expenses, nightlife, societies, the city/town itself, the course, any internships/jobs you could pick up there that interest you potentially, post-grad

Hello!

Congratulations on all of the offers that you have received so far! You should be very proud of yourself and good luck with the rest of your offers!

If you are unsure on which university to pick, I would really recommend attending Offer Holder Days for each of the universities. These go into more detail than an Open Day and will give you a chance to get to know even more about the university, the city and the psychology department. It will also give you a chance to meet people who might be your future coursemates! You would have received an email from Leicester that includes a link allowing you to book onto one of our upcoming Offer Holder Days (14 March & 25 April).

Additionally, if you want to speak to a psychology student here at Leicester, then you can click on this link! You can ask them any questions that you think would be useful to decide the right university for you such as their favourite part of the psychology course or why they chose the University of Leicester!

Whilst I am not a psychology student, I can give you an insight into what made me pick the University of Leicester. When I came to the Open Day, I found everyone to be really supportive and friendly. As a student, I still find this to be true. Lecturers are always willing to give you the time of the day and help you succeed in your modules. There is also so much support from different teams if you have any non-academic issues (e.g. housing, financial, mental health)! I also really liked that Leicester was a campus university as opposed to a city university. Instead of travelling from building to building between lectures, I can use that time to get started on work in the library or grab some food with my friends. Whilst this is more of a practical reason, it definitely makes time management so much easier.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Hi,

Congratulations on your offers so far!

There's definitely a lot to consider when weighing up your options, but I'd recommend looking into any upcoming open days to help you narrow down a firm and insurance choice. Having a visit with the focus of where you feel most at home, and taking a critical eye to the facilities at this stage can really help. You can find our upcoming open days at NTU here.

I'd be on the lookout for employability support and placement or professional experience opportunities too. Depending on the course you're looking to study and your career aspirations after graduating, these can make a world of difference in graduate applications. A good number of our students highlight their placement experiences as a highlight in our student stories.

Hopefully you've heard back from our Admissions team; if not, don't hesitate to get in touch! You can find the contact details for the Admissions team here, and they're always happy to check up on an application, as well as provide any further information about the process, the course, and life at NTU.

As a final point, just remember you've got plenty of time to fully assess your options. You can find the key dates and deadlines for UCAS here. You won't need to make your firm and insurance choices until you've at least heard back from all of your applications.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions, let us know below!

Hi there,

Congratulations on your offers! We see you’ve got offers to study with us, Exeter, Leicester, and now NTU 🥳

There’s already some great advice on this thread, but we’ve got some questions you might also want to consider about each uni:

The course itself. What psychology modules are on offer? Do they differ across each uni? What modules appeal to you the most? What ones might you enjoy studying? What facilities would you have access to for the course? What are the job prospects like after the course?

Location. How close is uni to home? Can you travel home if needed? If so, how would you get home, via train, bus etc? How long would that take? Are you interested being close to big cities, like London? Would you want to live in student accommodation? Are you interested in commuting?

Wider facilities. What else is on offer at the uni? Is there support outside of academic studies, like Counselling and Wellbeing, Money Advice, part-time work (ARU Temps), Careers and Employability services? What events do the SU host? What's the city like?

Most universities are hosting Applicant / Offer Holder Days where you can come back onto campus. At ARU, our Applicant Days are designed for students to participate in taster course activities, interacting with classmates and lecturers, and having the opportunity to take part in campus, accommodation, and library tours. We had a great Applicant Day on 7 March, but if you didn't join us then, we have another one coming up on 25 April ☺️

As a general quick overview of Psychology at ARU, I'd recommend this short video of psychology students sharing their experiences. If you wanted to chat to a student, feel free to visit the chat with students webpage, or for more general queries, get in touch with our Admissions team: 📞 +44 (0)1245 686868 📧 [email protected].

We hope you make the best decision for you!

Many thanks,
Jemma
