Could I get a 5 or 6 in maths but 7-9 grades in everything else in GCSEs and still get into Cambridge? Bear in mind I would want to do humanities like English . Thanks!

You would probably be fine - Cambridge doesn't care a lot about GCSEs, and to be honest without a full application in front of somebody, it would be impossible for them to judge.

There will be someone who got 7-9 in everything. There will be many people like that, and many who got all 8/9's! And that's very scary, but also completely okay; You need to remember that your application is graded with EVERY other bit of your application in mind. To put it another way, if you "make up" for a slightly less than stellar GCSE performance with your Personal Statement, A-Levels, etc, you will most likely get in. Just keep in mind that every time you get a lower grade, you kind of "disadvantage yourself" and you have to make up for it in the rest of your application.

Another thing to note; It's not necessarily that you need straight 7-9's in everything to get into Cambridge, but rather that the students who are "good enough" to get into Cambridge tend to have gotten 7-9's in their GCSE, just because they are disciplined and didn't at all slack.

I would say get it to a 6, and you should be fine - Ideally, don't stop there though and bring it to a 7. Good luck with your GCSEs

I was in a similar position to you but the exact other way around. I got a 6 in English Language (and 5s in Drama and RS) but did Maths at Cambridge. As long as you're strong in your subject(s), that is the main thing.
