ARU Cambridge commuter friends 🚌

I’m starting at ARU Cambridge in September, and commuting rather than living in halls. For other commuters, how did you actually make friends and still have a social life? Any societies/events that worked well, and tips for staying on campus without it being awkward? Would love practical advice from anyone who’s done this.

Hi there!

Im a 3rd year student nurse at Anglia ruskin in chelmsford and I commute to University.

Yes absolutely you will still have a social life, that was my main worry when i decided to commute but i have had the best 3 years at Uni being busy with clubs and socials most weeks.

I would say the main thing is just to jump into everything, I joined the netball club to play a sport and the nursing society as i saw on instagram they both had regular socials. I would say if you enjoy sports then definately join a team as they have socials most wednesdays and its a great way to meet people.

Also have a look on the student union page for anglia ruskin as there are all the socities avaliable there with the links to the instagram where they will be posting about freshers week in september.

Good Luck,
I hope you enjoy it as much as i do!
