University bursary

Hi, im a first year university student and I checked my university website for information about bursaries and I have given sfe my details about household income, as my uni instructed on the website as it would be handled by sfe. I haven’t heard anything since then, so I got in contact with an sfe agent about my concerns, she told me that they dont have anything to do with it and if i have concerns I should contact my university. But when my friend contacted sfe her agent told her how much she would get and that she would receive an email about her bursary, so i'm confused about why my agent had a different response. Im going to email my university but i would like to know if you automatically get the bursary through sfe (if you’re eligible) or not?

Hi there. The university will check the household income provided to us, however SFE do not determined who is eligible for university bursaries.

The university will check the household income with us, and then they will send us the information regarding the entitlement for the bursary, and you would receive a letter form the university confirming the entitlement.

If you have given the household income to SFE, then the next step would be to contact your university, as they are they ones who would be able to tell you if you are eligible. Thanks, Leah.
