Cambridge MPhil Development Studies

Hi I got into this course this year. When they say it's a 9 months course, is the writing thesis included within this time? So how long is the actual teaching? Or is the thesis to be written after this 9 months? I like the course but it feels so short

Hi! The MPhil courses are pretty dense, and while the overall program is relatively short, it is very intense. Most MPhil programs only last 9 months. In many cases, the dissertation is equivalent to roughly 3 to 6 electives, which means it sometimes replaces the courses in the final trimester.

Congratulations on being accepted. The 9 months includes everything, taught component and dissertation. Teaching typically runs from October to around March, then the remaining months are focused on the dissertation. It is intense but very manageable if you keep up with the reading during the taught phase rather than leaving it all to the research period.

Haven't received any update on this yet. Though I applied on the deadline - 26 Feb.
