I think I am stuck

Hey I got all 5 offers from the universities, I applied through UCAS. But even from the start I wanted to study in some of prestigious universities, including university of Manchester, Newcastle, royal Holloway, but thought will have bad result, now when I got 2 distinctions I believe that I will get some more positive result.
Now at the end of the year is this possible if I change my mind will the university will accept me and give me a place in Law LLB, 3 year course, as l have grade 6 in both gese maths and English. And currently I'm doing Access to HE law. May be through clearance? I want to apply in university of Lancaster or Manchester university. But have no idea

Hi,

Firstly, congratulations on receiving all five offers and achieving distinctions, that’s a great result!

I actually went through Clearing myself before starting my course at Teesside University, so I know it can feel a bit confusing at first. Clearing can be a way to apply to different universities later in the cycle if you decide not to accept your current offers or if you don’t meet the conditions of your firm/insurance choices.

However, for competitive courses like Law at universities such as the University of Manchester or Lancaster University, places in Clearing aren’t always guaranteed because those courses often fill up earlier in the cycle. It really depends on how many spaces are left that year.

If you’re interested in that route, it can help to keep an eye on universities’ Clearing pages closer to results day and be ready to contact admissions teams to ask about available places and whether they accept your qualifications (like Access to HE Law).

At the same time, it’s still worth looking carefully at the offers you already have, as you may already have some great options there too.

Best of luck with the rest of your studies and your final decision!

Thanks a lot, it really means a lot.
I was thinking about clearing process, but I do not want to lose my current options.

Consider a gap year rather than rushing through clearing.

Hi there !

I am currently a student at Lancaster University. I don’t study Law myself, but I thought I’d reply because I was actually in a similar situation when I was applying to university. At the time, I wasn’t completely sure which university I wanted to go to either, and in the end I actually applied to Lancaster through Clearing rather than through my original UCAS choices. From my experience, universities can sometimes be quite flexible with situations like this, especially later in the admissions cycle. After I applied through Clearing, I received my acceptance letter from Lancaster about two weeks later. Since you’ve achieved two distinctions and have good GCSE grades in Maths and English while studying Access to HE Law, you may still have options.

The best thing you could do would probably be to email the admissions teams at the universities you’re interested in, like Lancaster or Manchester, explain your situation, and ask whether there is any possibility to be considered or whether Clearing would be the best route. Universities are usually quite helpful with enquiries like this, and it’s always worth asking.

Best Regards,

Absolutely, it’s a really good idea to hold onto your current offers, you’ve worked hard to get them, and having them is better than having nothing at all. Think of Clearing more as a safety net or a potential opportunity later on, rather than something you have to commit to right now.

When the time comes, if you feel confident about aiming for universities like Manchester or Lancaster, Clearing can be a lifeline. I actually wrote an article about my own Clearing experience at university, which might help you understand how the process works and how it can be used without losing what you already have. You can read it here.

It’s always better to have options in hand and consider Clearing later, rather than risk not having anything.

Thanks, I am truly fascinated from the article you wrote 🙌. A piece of writing that an individual, like me, needed at this stage. ☺️
