Hmm, what did you plan to study at Manchester and what were your A-level subjects you chose? In most cases it might be that the course had requirements of needing a "maths" based subject accompanied with an "essay" based subject to have the suitable educational profile that they look for in the course

Unfortunately I think its something that colleges don't make very clear sometimes when you are picking your a-levels and already know what you want to study at university so you feel misguided sometimes. My advice to you is have a check and see if your a-level subjects are a mixture of maths and essay based because your grades don't seem to be the issue. If they are all good then I think keep your options open but you can always apply to Manchester again through clearing! Best of luck to you

It was LLB Law there was a list of preferred subjects but all of mine are in it. GCSEs needed a 4 in Eng Lang and Maths, which I got. Maybe there were just many applicants so they prioritised those with A levels higher than the requirements?

It’s a very competitive course with a low offer rate…”stronger educational profile” can also mean more than grades alone.

Ah yeahh law is quite competitive so completely understandable, there's a chance that some people got to take 4 A-levels and that's what gave them the boost for acceptance -- that being said I hope you don't let this discourage you! I wanted to pursue Accounting at Uni, but not Uni accepted my a-levels had to puruse Business & Management instead and got rejected from my firm, ended up at an insurance uni. But I graduated back in July last year and now have a full-time job in Accounting and my employer is fully funding my course to become chartered as well! If you put your mind to it anything will be possible just down a slightly different path potentially!
