Kingston University vs MMU vs University for the Creative Arts

Hello everyone, I will be a U.S. international student come this September and I am trying to make a decision on my top three universities. I have been accepted into

University of Creative Arts

Kingston University

Manchester Metropolitan University

London Metropolitan

University of East London

My top 3 are the first three listed as I know the other two aren't necessarily the best for the arts. Granted they ranked pretty well on The Guardian for my major.

My main concerns are internship opportunities, professor engagement, community, support after graduation, and industry connections. I am a very motivated student and I tend to work on outside projects, keeping myself pretty involved in the design world.

Hey @Aujaitorii,

Huge congratulations on your offer from Kingston! 😁

I studied BA Fine Art and Art History (Hons) at Kingston University and was based on our Knights Park (Kingston School of Art) campus. If you have any questions relating to the campus or more specifically to your degree, let me know and I'll do my best to help.

One of my favourite things about studying at KSA was the community - as all creative courses are based in the same place so there's a lot of collaboration amongst students on different courses. I worked on various projects and exhibition pieces with Illustration Animation students, Photography students and Dance students.

Here's a couple of blogs we've previously written on The Student Room about studying at KSA:

An Overview of Knights Park Campus
KSA Open Access Workshops to All Students

Hope this helps and feel free to ask me anything! 🙃

Hi there! I currently study at London Metropolitan University in my second year.
As you mentioned, we don't have a specific Creative Arts course - but our school of Art, Architecture and Design offer really interesting courses ranging from fine art and design to theatre and performance, so there is definitely opportunity to study here whatever your interest!🙂

Although I study under the school of human sciences, I can give you some information from my personal experience of the university environment itself. The university is incredibly welcoming and friendly and you may find yourself right at home as an international student; the campus is very diverse, with over 120 nationalities on campus and many events and societies to celebrate this! My professors are engaging and helpful with any queries. As far as internships and opportunities go, I believe it may be down to you to search for them - but we have student support services and mentors who are happy to help with writing your applications if you need it.

Good luck with your studies!! Let me know if you have any more questions about life at London Met.

Heads up on UCA - MAJOR cuts to staff and what you get for your money. At the moment in the UK - please read the budgets for ALL potential institutions. There is ongoing discussion about which may, or may not, collapse. My recommendation.
