worried about disappointing teacher

i have a teacher who has been supporting me incredibly much ever since ive been getting good grades in my past mocks, however ive just done my last mock and felt ive underperformed immensely - im so worried about upsetting them, theyve told my parent in a parents evening that im a very good student and i can get an A* before. theyre always nice to me and checking up on me

Then they will hopefully understand that if the mock goes badly, that it is not representative of your abilities and you just had an off day. Happens to the best of us

Also, you actually don't know how you did! You wouldn't know how often I walk out of exams thinking that I absolutely butchered them, only to do well in them anyways. But in any case, even if you do underperform slightly, I'm sure it's just a blip and your teacher will understand. Best of luck with your A-levels this summer!!

Hi,

It’s completely normal to feel worried about this, but one mock exam doesn’t define your ability or the hard work you’ve put in. If your teacher has said you can achieve an A*, it likely means they’ve seen your potential and consistent effort over time.

Teachers understand that not every exam goes perfectly. Mocks are there to highlight areas to improve before the real exams, and your teacher will probably just want to help you work on those areas rather than feel disappointed.

Try to focus on what you can take from the mock and use it to guide your revision going forward.

Hope this helps, good luck with your studies!

Hey @doomspire,

Your teacher sounds fantastic! As mentioned above, try not to stress too much about it. Whether or not you have underperformed in the mock, your teacher will understand it doesn't reflect your potential or your previous work. 🙂

I had a few tricky mocks during GCSEs and A-Levels due to illness. Teachers tend to be very understanding about these sorts of things and are more keen to check that you're not struggling about with any of the material they're teaching in class.

Best of luck with your A-Levels and hope all goes well with your mocks,
Eve (Kingston Rep).

Is it just the 1 mock that you did badly in?
If so, then it may have just been a one off/bad day etc.
Speak to the teacher so you can work out where you went wrong.
