Messed up - Private Candidate

Hi,
I'm a private candidate doing International AS. I'm in quite a situation and I'm not sure how to manage going forward. I just got my Unit 1 results and I messed up in two of my subjects (cuz of lack of enough preparation and practice).

My grades were BEE (History, Psychology, and English Language) and my IELTS score is 7.0.

I most likely have two options:
Retake the subjects with Es
Move on and continue preparing for Unit 2 and try bringing the overall grade up.

I'm aware the most realistic option is retaking them, but due to personal circumstances, I'd be able to retake at least one of them? I think it would be better to retake English Language, as it's one of the most crucial subjects I need to apply to uni.

Also, I'm really concerned about whether I'll be able to apply to university for this year or not. When do you think is possible to apply if my overall AS results come out on August? As you can see, I'm not exactly confident and with limited information about how to manage these things, I'm clueless as to what I can do.

I want to apply for a foundation year to progress into law. Though, seeing my situation, I feel like I won't be able to...

Moreover, since I'm a private candidate, how do I get predicted grades? I already have a tutor for History, and I was wondering what exactly are the criteria for the predicted grades reference? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi,

It's up to you. If do extremely well at A2 (for the E grades), then you'd be looking at a B/C max.
Predicted grades would have to come from someone who knows you academically, such as a tutor.

Hey,

Whilst I would recommend retaking at least one of your subjects to reduce the pressure on your Unit 2 examinations, a Foundation Year for Law should still be in reach as long as you can bring your two E grades up. Foundation Years usually have reduced entry requirements compared to standard undergraduate courses.

Speak to your tutor about providing you with a predicted grade; you may need to speak to other tutors for your other subjects.

Hope this helps,
Eve (Kingston Rep).
