Am I good enough for KCL Medicine?

Hi,
I’m currently a Y12 studying biology, chemistry, psychology and maths in context. And I would like to go to KCL for medicine. My stats are:
Predicted: A*AAA
GCSES: 888888766 & passed algebra award.
Wex: 1 week in hospital, 3 months volunteering in chem class, 3 months maths tutor, 6 months English tutor & head prefect.
I am planning to get my predicted grades up to A*A*AA and hopefully get 2000+ on the UCAT. But is this good enough?

The Medicine forum gets a high volume of questions. Some of these are already answered by the resources and megathreads that members of the community and volunteers have created. This is an automatic post which is designed to highlight these resources.
Below is a thread directory of all the very useful threads in Medicine:

Medicine Thread Directory

If one of the threads in the directory is a more relevant place to ask your question, please post a reply in that thread to ask your question after reading the first post.

If your query is answered by one of the Megathreads or articles, and you would like us to close this thread for you, please reply to this thread with just the words "thank you". A member of our team will then get it locked.

I want to ask the same question as I am also looking into unis like KCL, UCL, Imperial etc. I think as long as you have a strong UCAT score you’ll have advantage

Does anyone know if unis like KCL and UCL place a greater emphasis on GCSEs grades? Or is it fine as long as I meet their requirements

Probably, but it's all highly theoretical until you know your UCAT score. That's the thing that will make or break your chances.

KCL rather unhelpfully doesn't publish their shortlisting criteria for interviews so who knows.

UCL on the other hand, does ( https://www.ucl.ac.uk/medical-sciences/divisions/medical-school/study/undergraduate/mbbs-admissions/selection-interviews/selection-procedure ), and they only check that you meet the entry requirements, and then they shortlist applicants for interview based solely on UCAT scores.

yeah kcl don't share much but I found some statistics from their website here, hope this helps: https://www.kcl.ac.uk/assets/about/pdf/strategy/admissions-statistics/admissions-statistics-for-undergraduate-medicine-ucas-code-a100.pdf

Yeah at the moment your stats are fine, if you can get the grades bumped up that'd be brilliant. Also the UCAT is now out of 2700 not 3600. For kings I'd aim for at least 2050+ to have a shot at getting an interview offer. If possible I'd recommend doing some research into a topic you're into too e.g. Essay comps, Imperial's poster comp, EPQ, etc. Good luck!

you should be good. kcl does weight gcse's (like 40%) but im pretty sure they measure 8s and 9s the same. for UCAT, i'd aim for 2100 and above (as a minimum), and either band 1 or band 2. good luck!
