Making yr11 friends

Hii guys I’m in year 11 now and I would really like some more friends and everyone can use this to make more friends too
These are the subjects I do (all aqa except cs which is ocr):
English literature (blood brothers, Macbeth, a Christmas carol, power and conflict anthology)
English language
Maths (higher)
Biology (higher)
Chemistry (higher)
Physics (higher)
History
Computer science
French
Statistics

I’ve just done a set of trial exams which I should get marks back for soon but as off my November trial exams this is the grades I got:
English literature 5
English language 5
Maths 5
Biology 7
Chemistry 6
Physics 6
History 8
Computer science 7
French 5
(I just picked up statistics after Christmas btw)

I am happy with these grades apart from maths 🫣because in yr10 summer I got a 7 and because I need a 6 for my alevel courses

For my alevels I have applied to do chemistry biology digital media and core maths (why I am now taking stats)

Hii! I’m also in Year 11 and looking for some people to revise with and keep each other accountable.

These are the subjects I do:
Maths (Edexcel Higher)
English Literature (AQA) Romeo and Juliet, A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls, Power & Conflict Poems
English Language (AQA)
Combined Science (AQA)
RE (Eduqas)
Computer Science (OCR)
History (Eduqas)
Spanish (AQA)

My current working grades / targets are roughly:
Maths 7 (aiming for an 8)
English Lit 6 (aiming for an 8)
English Lang 5 (aiming for a 7)
Science 8-7 (aiming for 9-8)
RE 7 (aiming for an 8)
Computer Science 7 (aiming to keep it or get an 8 if possible)
History 6 (aiming for a 7)
Spanish 5 (aiming for a 7)

I’m mainly trying to push my English Language and Spanish up at the moment 😭

Would be nice to have some people to revise with, share tips, and keep each other motivated for GCSEs!

Hi! I'm in Year 11 too, would love to keep in touch!

During November mocks I got
9- Eng Lang
9- Physics
8- RE
8-Maths
7-Bio
7-Chem
7-Geography (should have been higher, they messed up with the test they gave us, and the marking 😔)
6-Spanish
6- Eng Lit

I'm predicted, and aiming for all 9s, except in Spanish. My grades dipped a ton last mocks, but I'm doing another set rn, basically finished everything except Spanish. Thinking I'm looking at all 8s and 9s bar Spanish. If I do badly on my speaking I'm probably getting dropped to foundation because I did badly on listening and reading.

And for A-Levels I chose English Lit, Psych and Politics!

English Literature (AQA) - Predicted 8
Further Maths (AQA) - Predicted 9
Geography (OCR B) - Predicted 9
Maths (AQA) - Predicted 9
Physics (AQA) - Predicted 9
Spanish (Edexcel) - Predicted 7 (I got 93% in most recent mocks, so I hope I can get this changed).

Hopefully, I can achieve these and stay in touch with you all!! I am picking A level Biology, Chemistry, Maths (and potentially Further Maths).

I'd generally say that all there really is to it is just reading a ton, and improving on comprehensive analytical skills if needed. I've never really revised for English Language, I think it's just about keeping detail in analysis consistent. Most of the tools in English language are crossovers from English literature. Make sure to learn a variety of language and structural devices, and simply just practice exam questions, give it to your teacher and see where you're missing marks. I think English language is one of those subjects where if you want to improve the main way is just doing the questions and correcting. For the extended writing pieces, I'd say a wide range of vocabulary and an interesting writing style is pretty crucial, so maybe write more generally in your spare time, and ask for critique from others. I don't mind giving friendly peer reviews of your writing occasionally if you want?

watz up div(A)! :getmecoat:I'm also in year 11 😛
I'm horrified for Gcses too king 😭

This are the subjects that I do :
Maths (edexcel higher) : predicted = 9 : last mock = 9
English lit (edexcel) : predicted = 7 : last mock = 6
English lan (edexcel) : predicted = 9 : last mock = 8 ( I WAS 5 MARKS OVER A 9 THEN MY TEACHER MADE ME 1 MARK UNDER A BLIDDY 9 😭 :mob: 💔)
Science (aqa triple higher) : all 3 sciences are predicted 9 and I got all 9 for my last mocks
Computer science (ocr 🤢) : predicted = 9 : last mock = 9
French (aqa) : predicted = 9 : last mock = 8
Geography (aqa) : pedicted = 8 : last mock = 7

HOPEFULLY I can raise all of my (non 9) grades by 1 or 2 grades but yk, gotta revise in order to do that 🥹🥀

By the way, which sixth form are you leaning towards? I’m thinking of going with LAES so far, but I do like HWSF.

Right now, this is my mental ranking

1.

LAE Stratford

2.

LaSWAP (Camden)

3.

Woodhouse/LAE (Tottenham) (both are equally as unlikely)

Only reason I'm considering LaSWAP rn is because it has some subjects I like more (I wouldn't mind if I could do a film EPQ at LAE Stratford but apparently they're stopping EPQs). I don't hate the subjects I'm down for at LAE Stratford though, and I can do film outside of school, so LAE Stratford stays strong at the top of the list

Didn't apply to Harris, didn't really appeal to me. My friend applied, only because her brother went though I think? Don't think she wants to go anymore, LAE is her top one too (she's gotten an offer as well)

What the hell, our options are almost the exact same except LaSWAP is replaced with Harris. TBH I don’t really wanna go, but I wouldn’t mind other way. LAE Stratford is definitely up there. Considering we have basicaly the same subjects and the same sixth form options, do you wanna talk a bit in PMs?
