Aberdeen vs Dundee vs Stirling for Law Degree

I have unconditional offers from Aberdeen and Dundee for a joint english and scots law degree and from Stirling for Scots Law. I live in Aberdeen, so it would be easiest to go to Aberdeen Uni, and it is the highest ranked of the three (at least, from what I know). I'm not really keen on Dundee (although open to opinions) as its not nicer enough than Aberdeen to make me want to go. Stirling, on the other hand has a gorgeous natural campus. But is that the only thing it has going for it? Its not very highly ranked. Does the ranking of my uni matter in the long run for law? Would obtaining a degree from Aberdeen improve my job prospects enough to warrant going there over Stirling?

Aberdeen is considered more established, this means that when employers are looking at how well you've done in a degree they know that you've done well among a group of highly talented individuals. This is the real advantage of a high-ranked school as a first at Aberdeen will look better than a first at Stirling. However, this isn't everything. If you've grown up in Aberdeen, you might want to move away and see what life is like when the worlds not grey. Tbh it's four years of your life either way and a degree is still a degree, although it will be taken to account by employers they'll also look at everything else you've done and an interview

Hi, this is the University of Aberdeen rep account. Congratulations on all of your offers! It's a difficult question with rankings, as it does matter for some employers and not for others. I will say though that you will still be graduating with a full degree of equivalent level from any university you go to, and with it being four years there are other factors worth taking into account such as the universities and what appeals to you. Do you want to be close to or far away from home, do you want to be in a big or small city, are there things/places in that city that you're interested in or will be good for any hobbies you have; those sorts of factors should definitely be on your mind as well as the actual courses of each of the universities.
Then it would be worth having a look on each of our websites to see what appeals to you about the courses eg. course content, projects you will get to do through your degree, prospects upon graduation, that sort of thing. If career prospects are a big factor for you then contacting each of the unis for more information on this may be useful. We have a Careers and Employability Service who you can contact by emailing [email protected] and you can find more details on them here: https://www.abdn.ac.uk/careers/

I hope this is helpful if you're still weighing up your options, and all the best in coming to a decision! Let me know if there are any more questions we can help with.
