I have an university offer dilemma

Hi guys so im in year 13 rn and I have offers york, Loughborough, city st georges and Nottingham and got rejected fron warwick. I applied for law for all of them. Now here's the issue, I have law offers from york, city and Loughborough. Warwick rejected me and Nottingham gave me an offer but for criminology???. Like huh. Im happy I have an offer from Notts but does anyone know if I can change my course on results day? Also from the others which should I pick for firm and insurance especially considering how prestigious the uni is and if it's a good target. Notts is prestigious and a good target but the course is putting me off. Thank you and apologies for how long it is.

I would suggest getting in touch with Nottingham admissions and asking them (a) why you were offered this course (b) can you switch (c) or can you switch on results day if you outperform your predicted grades.

Hi Racheal, congrats on getting multiple offers.

You can ask to switch to Law at University of Nottingham on results day, but it is not guaranteed and depends on whether any places become available on the course. I would not rely on this if you are certain you want to study Law.

From your current Law offers, University of York would be a sensible firm choice given its strong reputation for the subject. City, St George's, University of London could work well as an insurance if the grade requirements are lower and it is somewhere you would still be happy to attend.

Good luck,
Ulaw,
Alfred.

Hi,

Do not be upset, York university is also another prestigious Russell Group university and city st georges is good for law. You got many great offers and this is more important than the course change that happened😊, congratulations 🥳.

Hi Racheal18,

We're super pleased to hear you are seriously considering joining us to study Law! We'll try our best to help (with the help of our students), too...

Here are some things you might want to consider:

Law course content flexibility, optional modules, how engaging it is; Opportunities within the course (placements, internships, careers support, study abroad; York’s PBL-style teaching and how that actually works in practice too : check out what Shreya says are the best things about studying Law at York
and Hope's take on PBL.

Graduate prospects and how supportive careers services are : a couple of students - Nimra shares her positive experience and top tips and tricks for leveraging the Careers and Placement team and the resources to secure internships, placements, and that all-important part-time job and then Millie shares her experience of using the Careers and Placements service.

Accommodation and campus life; social scene: Check out this Q and A with some of our previous students who formed a friendship in their accommodation.

Societies and extracurriculars: some of our societies are featured in this video! We've also got an A - Z list of societies here.

I hope this provides some food for thought for now as you think about your final decisions!

Let us know if we can help with anything else!

J 🙂

Hello,

Congratulations on your offers! I am glad to hear you are considering City St George’s University of London!
I am a student at City St George’s as well, so here are some things you should have in mind from my personal experience so far:
High Employability & Practical Focus: The curriculum is designed with the legal profession in mind, embedding employability skills throughout. Students engage in practical, hands-on experience through the award-winning Community Legal Advice Centre (CLAC), mooting, and mock trials.
Location: City St George’s is located in the heart of London, which leads to exceptional networking opportunities. In my opinion, you can never be bored in London there is always something going on in the city!
City St George’s has more than 200 societies where you can socialise and meet new people. The City Law Society and the Women in Law Society are great!
Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions!
