Foundation year sfe

Hi ive currently got an unconditional offer at a different university than the one im in right now, for context i am on a foundation year at uni A and want to change locations to uni B to start in first year (i met grade requirements from A level i just wanted to learn more things due to taking a gap in learning and feeling unprepared). This is my first year in uni and im aware of the gift year being used and I’d only get funded from year 1,2,3 of my next course.

My main concern is i have seen a few people talk about how sfe may pull back tution causing the original university to send debt collectors and all that lovely stuff to retrieve the tuition back, i plan on completing the year and not dropping out half way through however im wondering why people were saying this and is it true sfe looks down on these types of moves my foundation is integrated also if thats anything.

Also would i be considered a continuing or new student for the next application to sfe thank u.

Hi,

Every student is entitled to funding for the length of their course plus one additional year, minus any previous study. This means if you have only done 1 year of study and nothing else previously, then you should be eligible for funding for the new course.

If you had further previous study that prevented fees being paid, but you had Compelling Personal Reasons (CPR) why you didn't complete the previous course, then you could provide evidence to show this and you may be able to get the tuition fees.

Compelling Personal Reasons evidence (CPR) - The evidence would be a letter on headed paper signed/stamped and dated from someone in profession i.e. Doctor/lecturer who knows the CPR. They must know how it affected your studies and the dates it affected you. Once received it will be up to the assessor if this will be accepted or not.

Thanks,
Claire
