In house uni accom or private halls?

I hold an unconditional offer for Uni of Aberdeen for Law with English Law. I've been looking at accommodation, with a preference for ensuites and have noticed that the 'inhouse' accomm i.e. Hillhead student village ensuites options are limited and about £190/ a week, while private halls like Studentroost are £130-150/week. How important do you think it is that I spend my first year at a university owned accommodation? Some people argue that at hilldhead I would make more friends and get that 'community experience'- whatever that means. Making friends is very important to me, but I wonder if this would truly be more difficult in a private hall?

I don't think it matters that much either way. I, for one, lived @ Hillhead and managed to make no friends, but that's on me.

Hi! I have the same question. I’m a bit confused about what accommodation is actually owned by the university and what isn’t, and how the application process works.

I have a conditional offer, so I know I can only officially apply after results day, but I wanted to do some research in advance to see what options I might like.

Is Hillhead the only accommodation owned by the University of Aberdeen, or are there others? I’ve heard it’s the “best” one and a great way to make friends, but I’m not sure how true that is. I’d really appreciate some clarity and insight into the different accommodation options!
