A-level economics

I am currently in year 12, doing A-levels economics, maths, and further maths. I am doing well in maths and further maths but I am struggling with economics. How can I get better at economics, I want to get at least an A to be able to get into warwick for maths.

I used Uplearn to improve my Economics A level and ended up with a high A. it's an excellent programme with a money back guarantee if you don't get an A or A*. I'm currently doing an Econ/Politics degree at Bath, have a look here https://uplearn.co.uk

Would past papers help?

Hi,

economics can feel quite different from maths and further maths because it’s less about solving clear problems and more about understanding concepts and explaining them in essays. When I was in college I found that the biggest improvement came from doing lots of exam questions and looking carefully at the mark schemes to see exactly what examiners wanted.
One thing that helps a lot is focusing on how to structure answers. Economics exams often reward clear chains of reasoning like explaining a concept, applying it to the question, and then analysing the outcome. Practising those longer questions regularly can really help push grades up.
It might also help to go over topics using different resources such as videos or revision guides, because sometimes hearing an explanation in a different way makes things click. If you’re already strong in maths, you probably have the analytical skills for economics, it’s often just about getting used to the writing style and exam technique.
Personally when I was in college I noticed that the more past paper questions I did, the more predictable the exam style became, which made the subject feel much easier.

hoped this helped and goodluck!

Hey @dcng,

Lots of the concepts in Economics (especially macroeconomics) can be challenging for students, so I completely understand why you might be struggling. I used Tutor2U a lot during my Econ A-Level as it provided a run-down of each topic and had lots of free revision guides. In terms of improving your grade, make sure to do timed past papers - I remember really struggling with time management (paticularly for the longer essays) and timed past papers were a huge help. Also: read the mark scheme! The mark scheme usually provides a lot of good discussion points you may not have previously thought of.

Best of luck with your revision and hoping you achieve that A,
Eve (Kingston Rep).

Thanks, my school has provided us with uplearn and i use it consistently but have seen no improvements. I am convinced i am using it incorrectly. How did you utilise uplearn to get an A?
