What to firm and insure? Warwick/Bath/Bayes

Which one should I firm and insure?

Course: Business management and marketing & placement year

Warwick A*AA (really liked it, best future prospects)
Bath AAA (solid rep and town)
City/Bayes ABB (I wanna live in London but rep not as strong as Bath/Warwick. Most likely to get in but could also apply through clearing?)

Current predicted AAA (but I'm also worried ill get less than that as I'm struggling in maths and compsci coursework. Also have a track record of doubting myself tho )

Has anyone had the experience of missing their offer at Warwick/Bath and got accepted anyway?

Thanks

firm warwick and insure bath. bath is likely to be lenient with grades if you miss it by a hair and city will probably be in clearing regardless

If Warwick is the one you liked the most and you feel it has the best prospects, a lot of people would firm it in that situation. Warwick Business School has a strong reputation, so it’s a very attractive option for business courses.

With predicted AAA, you’re not massively far from the offer either, so it’s not unrealistic. Sometimes being close to the offer can still work out in the end.

If you already like the course and the environment at Warwick, firming it is a pretty normal choice.
Hi there!

Congrats on your offers, and AAA is a very good set of predicted grades so good job on working hard to get those.

It sounds like you're leaning towards Warwick as your Firm choice which would be a solid choice. Its a lovely uni and has a very good business school. Bath is also extremely strong, especially for business/management and has one of the best placement schemes in the country. I don't know a lot about Bayes, only that London tends to be more bustling with more to do but with a higher cost of living.

One thing I do want to clarify is that each year, Bath and most other unis will indeed look at 'near miss' offer holders who very narrowly miss our asking grades and will accept them if there is space on the course. However, we cannot predict what will be in clearing until results day, because the courses available in clearing vary year on year based on a number of factors.

I would suggest that you Insure the uni out of Bath and Bayes which A) has the course you think you would enjoy more, B) has the best placement opportunities as this will add a lot to your graduate CV, and C) is in a place where you'd be happy to live for a few years. And if that's Bath, then just be aware that the majority of our School of Management placements are London-based, and so you will have the opportunity to live in London for a year whilst at Bath if you wished to.

Hoping this helps 🙂
