Repeating the year is usually possible but it is not automatic. You would typically need to apply to your university to be allowed to repeat, and there may be conditions attached. Do not assume it will just happen without a conversation with your department.

The failed year generally does not contribute to your final degree classification if you repeat it, but again this varies. Most universities use the repeat year to replace the failed attempt, not to average alongside it.

Whether to aim for a bare pass or repeat the year depends on a few things: how the failed modules are weighted, whether passes are enough to progress, and what your degree goals are.
