GCSES for Oxford

Hi there, I am looking to apply with 99998888777 at GCSE for PPE

Would this grades in any way hinder my application to Oxford, or would I still stand a strong chance if applying relative to everything else

Anything is helpful

Although a background in Maths is not formally required for admission, PPE applicants should have sufficient interest in, and aptitude for, maths to cope with the mathematical elements of the course.

Maths is a particular advantage for the Economics component of the course, as well as for the first year logic course in Philosophy, and for understanding theories and data in Politics.

Of the applicants offering A-Levels, 941 had A-Level Maths (or Maths and Further Maths).

Of the 467 applicants offering A-Levels who were interviewed, 434 (93%) had A-Level Maths.

Of the 180 applicants offering A-Levels who were awarded a place, 172 (96%) had Maths.

Just don't apply to Balliol, Magdalen, St. John's and Christ Church. Perhaps St.Anne's, St. Hilda's or even St. Hugh's might be less competitive. 😉

Hi,

Well done 🥳, your GCSEs are strong and are unlikely to hinder your application for PPE at Oxford. Are you currently doing your A-levels? how are you predicted looking like?

For PPE, the predicted A-level grades (AAA or higher), and your TSA results are both fundamental for acceptance.
