Edinburgh or Bristol Medicine

I have offers for Edinburgh and Bristol Medicine (UK student), and was wondering if anyone could give any advice or insight in which to pick?

I've been to Bristol offer holder day and was quite impressed which is now making my decision harder as I initially thought I was set on Edinburgh. My main worry is the low student satisfaction rates at Edinburgh and the extra intercalation year which supposedly doesn't carry a huge benefit anymore. But I do prefer Edinburgh as a city.

And also do either carry any benefits for the future? E.g. if I wanted to move country or even when staying in the UK

Any advice would be appreciated!

Yeah, many moons ago the intercalation year was actually something that gave you an advantage later down the line when applying for training and whatnot, but this is no longer the case. Still, if you don't mind it, I have heard from one or two medical students that they enjoyed the break from their medical studies that the intercalation year provided.

Do you know why Edinburgh has a poor satisfaction score? Like, have you spoken with a medical student there?

I believe both Bristol and Edinburgh should be widely accredited internationally, so I would assume it matters little. Within the UK though, I can guarantee you that it genuinely couldn't matter any less which one of them you went to.

I would go for the one that you would prefer to live in. This will be a completely personal choice.
You may also want to consider costs, eg expense / time to visit home, cost of living (Bristol expensive, don't know about Edinburgh but I don't suppose it's a cheap one)
Look at clubs / societies and access to other places you might want to visit nearby. Like SY says, it really will not matter where you graduate from

For those firming Edinburgh and looking for student accommodation, I am finding a new tenant to take over my contract, as I am firming another university and if anyone’s interested, please contact me.

My contract is £272/week for 44 weeks

I myself have recently firmed Edinburgh med and from speaking to students on the course there they all seem to love it, I think the low student satisfaction is impacted more by humanities subjects as the teaching and help on dissertations etc. isn't the best, but med it different because you just have to remember stuff 🤣
I think the choice is mainly a case of where you could see yourself living for the next 5-6 years, as unless you greatly favour one teaching style over another, we will all be taking the UKMLA at the end of it 😵
