Manchester vs Southampton university
Hello. I'm considering Manchester and Southampton as my firm for Electrical and Electronic Engineering. What matters a lot to me are the quality of the course, the social life of the city and the quality of university halls.
I'm aware that Manchester has a much livelier social life, but I've heard not very great things when it comes to uni accomodation at UoM. Sure, there's some of them which are really good, like Unsworth, but they are all expensive and there's a chance I wouldn't get into Unsworth anyway. It appears that Southampton offers much better and more affordable accommodation, but the city is less lively and social.
I would appreciate some insight into accomodation at Manchester and whether it is as bad as they say it is, and into life at Southampton. Applying for 2026-2027.
