How to apply as an independent student

I'm due to start my course at Wolverhampton this year and I'm about to apply for my student finance/ maintenance. I will be 25 at the time I start and I have been supporting myself financially for at least 3 years so I do qualify as an independent student. But I'm not sure how to apply through the GOV website to apply for my student finance/ maintenance as an independent student? Can anyone help at all please?

Hi Bethany,

If you're not 25 before the start of the academic year, we won't class you automatically as independent. The application will ask you if you have self supported for 3 years or not, and if you tick yes we will need the evidence to prove this i.e. 3 years worth of P60's, payslips etc. You can upload these once you submit the application online under supporting evidence upload.

Thanks,
Claire
