Is studying in London actually worth it?

Hello, everyone,

My name is Yulia, and I am an international student from Bulgaria at City St George’s University of London. I study BSc Psychology, and I have always been passionate about this subject, so when I was choosing a university, I knew that I wanted to make the most out of my university experience.

Living in London has definitely been a life-changing experience for me, especially when it comes to meeting new people and being close to tons of opportunities. Of course, it’s not all perfect, rent and living costs can be high, and it’s a big city, so it can feel overwhelming at first.
However, I do believe that studying in London is actually worth it, and I wanted to share a little bit about my experience so far. Hopefully, this gives anyone considering uni here a clearer picture!

1. First off, there’s no denying that London is an incredible city to live in as a student from historic landmarks and world-class free museums to amazing food markets and endless entertainment options. Once you go outside, you can never be bored in the city!

2. London has a very diverse student community. This gives students the opportunity to meet people from all around the world and create valuable connections.

3. At my university, City St George’s Psychology students get access to practical learning opportunities through placements, volunteering, and internships at hospitals, clinics, and community organisations across London. These hands-on experiences are extremely valuable, and being in London makes the opportunities even greater!

4. London is huge, but also accessible! With the Tube, buses, and trains, commuting is easy and fast. As a student, you can easily reach the university campus, placements, and social activities without needing a car!

I would love to hear your opinion on the matter is studying in London actually worth it? Let me know!

I agree, I have never been in any city with more opportunities than London, academically speaking as well as for leisure. There is systematically hundreds of things going on, be in my uni (KCL) or in London overall. You will live 10 years in one haha
