which are the best accommodations in Leicester for students?

Hi @amaliaalchammas

I hope you are well! I would strongly recommend staying in university-managed accommodation and I assure you I am not just saying this as a Leicester student - there are several advantages. University-managed accommodation encompasses both The Village Accommodation and The City Accommodation.

Majority of students who stay in these accommodations are first year students. This makes it really easy to make friends the first few weeks because all of the people surrounding you are first years looking to make friends. If you stay in university-managed accommodation, you are also able to attend ResLife events. These are social events that are put on more or less everyday and take place at both The Village Accommodation and The City Accommodation. They are another great way to make friends (and get lots of freebies).

Additionally, if you stay at university-managed accommodation you have the benefit of 24/7 security. I never felt unsafe in my accommodation and I regularly saw security patrolling throughout the day and night. The Estates and Management Services are also available if you have any issues if your room. In my first year I needed a light bulb changing. All I had to do was fill out a form and then someone was over quickly to sort it out for me!

Overall, I think staying in university-management accommodation is just very stress free because you have aspects such as socialising, security and room management sorted!

Personally, I stayed in Freemens Common in the City Accommodation and I loved it. I chose to stay in City Accommodation over Village Accommodation because I'm from London and the high-rise flats reminded me of home. Additionally, I need about 13 alarms to get out of bed so being a 5 minute walk from campus was a great positive for me. I also knew that I wanted to get a part-time job and being close to the city centre with so many restaurants/shops meant there were so many jobs I applied to. However, some people prefer to stay in the Village Accommodation because of the gorgeous botanic gardens and beautiful greenery.

I hope that helps and do feel free to let me know if you have any questions! ☺️
