I regret my firm choice

I chose nottingham as my firm as it had higher rankings and I liked the modules more. But, after visiting the two recently I want the university of birmingham more. I know there is nothing I can do anymore🥲
Pharmacy rarely goes into clearing so idk what to do now.

I know you prefer brimingham but nottingham is truly an amazing city and has amazing people too! I've lived here since year 7 and I'm now in year 12, honestly I've made life long friends and had such amazing experiences in city centre and across notts, I'm sure you will too. What made you prefer Birmingham may I ask? Is it the city size, the people, the uni itself?

Honestly I think it's just anxiety. The acutal university is perfect, but I'm worried about not making friends. Also, it seems like everybdoy around me is staying close to home at my 6th form. I feel kinda left out because a lot people seem to thinking moving away is a dumb choice.

I promise you Nottingham is one of the most social places there is, there's so many opportunities to make friends in uni. If it makes you feel better, I'm an external at my current sixth form (not quite the same as uni) and I knew nobody when coming here, but I've been able to make so many lifelong friends and amazing memories, even though I've only known these people for a few months and they've known each other their whole lives. I think in uni too, everybody is probably looking to make friends as they don't know people and I think you'd be able to meet a ton of people through events, societies and even tiktok! Also, moving far away is something that should be a personal decision. Don't care about what anybody else thinks!!! If you believe that you'll be able to live by yourself far from your parents then I promise you'll thrive but if you don't believe that, then you might struggle more. But I promise you, you will find amazing people at nottingham and make such amazing memories 🥹

Thank you for your reply! I don't really have anybody else to talk to about, as I feel so stupid. That actually means so much, thank you 🥹 I think I’m a bit nervous but also really excited, and hearing that makes me feel a lot better. I just wish I waited a bit more before picking a firm. so if you haven't picked your firm yet, be really careful. I really hope I do make the most of it and find my people at Nottingham 🤍

Dont let anxiety over change be the thing that holds you back. This is a big decision so second thoughts are normal but you seem to have thought about why Nottingham is a better choice thoroughly.

you will definitely find your people here I promise, and if you need any friends starting out, my friend's sister goes to NTU and she'd be more than happy to show you around nottingham and be your friend. You'll love the city so much, make the most of it! 🥹 And if you ever need somebody to talk to about it, just lmk, I'm right here 🫡
