Good luck!

It's not a GCSE - title needs changing.

Can I just start by saying I hate linear programming and also logarithms like id genuinely rather do questions on integration. Oh and don't get me started on numerical methods- even my maths teacher hates that chapter- like its easy enough but its so unsatisfying.
Also is it just me or is having lines on a maths paper really offputting? Idk I just find this specific paper really ugly to look at

aqa's papers are the prettiest
edexcel can slide through but omg ocr's design team has no rent to be paying

also YES linear programming is the stupidest thing on earth but suvat is annoying too. and why do we have to do trapezium rule it's so useless compared to some of the other a-level topics like maybe forces (mechanics) or vectors?

Yeah my class was so annoyed at trapezium rule cos we knew the next chapter was calculus which would just teach us the better way of doing exactly the same thing 😭 I'm glad its towards the end of exam season though, I still need lots of practice before sitting it

plus trapezium rule only comes up at year 2 of a-level maths (edexcel) so what's the point of it??

my school won't let me sit fsmq till y10 so i gotta wait till next june :sadnod:

I am doing this paper as a private candidate, alongside Edexcel A Level Maths, Further Maths and Statistics which im sitting next year so as long as OCR don't pull a weird question out like the tan(theta) n+1/n-1 question it should be a nice paper for me

idk why its on the spec given linear programming is only in the optional D1 module of Further Maths which a lot of students don't end up taking its not even in maths a level pure or core pure FM

yes I am im taking finance at degree level so want to be very well grounded in statistics and calculus hence why im taking all three maths based a levels

Reply 12

woah that's so cool! how did you study it? i've only found one resource so have been hesitating
i would do finance at degree too but i'm scared to commit to it 😭 gonna stick to maths/physics instead

Haha I didn't know that, best of luck for those a levels it sounds intense 🫡

if you mean how do I study the standalone stats a level so basically for things like ANOVA (analysis of variance) that's in the old AQA S6 so just get the old AQA S6 textbook from the old a level spec and old S6 papers, things like Poisson distribution is in FS1 of FM which im taking as my optional module alongside D1 to complement 9ST0 so im revising the same topic for two different exams things like exponential distribution is old S5 AQA material so its out there just hard to find
