Hey
@anonymous #1 , I hope you are doing great 🙂 So, I actually go to BCU and I am not a film student, however I do have my personal experience as well as friends' who are film students personal experiences. So I really hope this helps!
As someone in their final year, I will be absolutely honest and say I have truly loved it. And as an international student as well, there is always this fear of maybe not fitting in, not enjoying myself or not being able to cope with the homesickness but fortunately I have had nothing but a positive experience. I feel like BCU caters well towards creative courses especially because of their focus on practical and hands-on learning.
From what my friends have told me, their modules do not just consist of writing essays but rather: filming, editing and working on projects. You get to do things like filmmaking, documentary and even film festivals and industry work.
Another thing I would pride BCU on would be their amazing facilities:
•
one of the largest green screens in the UK
•
industry-standard equipment
Which is a big deal for film, you actually get to use what professionals use. Taking advantage of all of this allows you to come out with a really strong portfolio.
I think Birmingham as a whole is a great networking city as there are many opportunities from events to festivals! It is also such a student community which enables you to make friends, so you never feel alone!
If you have any BCU specific questions, feel free to ask! Otherwise, I really hope this helped 🙂
