SFE: i forgot to put my middle name how do i add it to my account?

I realised i’ve forgotten to put my middle name on my student finance account details and now everything is being delayed. they are unable to verify my national insurance number because of this and also it won’t be the same name as is on my bank account. i’m so stressed because i have called student finance for over an hour and no one is picking up. i’m not sure what to do. should i delete my application and start it again? i’d really appreciate some help thanks.

Hi, thanks so much for your help! I uploaded the evidence and covering letter last night however when I logged back in today to check on it, I cannot see the evidence that I've uploaded. Is this normal?

Also, I was wondering how long it would take for SLC/DWP to verify my national insurance number? And would this process be hindered by the fact that I forgot to add my middle name to my application. Because I sent both the national insurance letter and covering letter and birth certificate at the same time so what if my national insurance number letter is received before my name is updated? Thanks!

Hi stressered,

If you call on 0300 100 0607 and select option 2, option 3, option 1 or you can press option 2 and then wait and don’t press anything, that will get you through to someone who can look at your evidence and update your name on the call.

Once they update your name for you, they should be able to refer your details over to our NINO team who will be able to recheck your details with the DWP. Usually it takes a week, from Wednesday to Wednesday.
