Most stores just ask you to drop in a CV but make sure you give it to customer services or a non-uniform supervisor/manager to ensure it actually gets to the right people. The pay really depends on your area but it's not too bad to be honest, I have heard a lot worse from other shops!

I probably spoke to you a bit about this before if I remember rightly... It's odd to put you on customer services straight away but it'll be fine! The tills are mega easy as they are just touchscreen and the till roll, etc is all easy to change. The only thing you must be very careful with is checking the money, people have all sorts of scams they try to use in there! Customers will try and push you into refunding at prices you shouldn't or items you shouldn't but if in doubt then just two bell (you will soon find out what this is if you haven't already guessed lol!). Be as friendly as you can with the supervisors, find out who you can have a laugh with etc, as these people will be a good help to you!

Good luck! x

Hiya!

I am a student and have been looking for job for the past 3 months but so far no success. I enquired at Primark(Oxford st) and I was informed by manager about job opening and he asked me to drop my CV at the customer service but the staff there refused my CV saying I should apply online. Online I chcked and there is no opening, Can anyone suggest how I can proceed further. I am desperately in need of job:frown:

The staff were misinformed as they aren't allowed to refuse your CV if they aren't supervisors, managers, etc. Go back in with your CV at a different time and ask to speak to a manager or supervisor. Be persistent but not too persistent, if they take your CV and you don't hear from them then maybe you just didn't have what they require.

Since the Recesion primarks sales have gone up almost 5%! WE are coming out on top of our bihggest competitor marks and spencers! I work at primark and I think its great, just remembering the department numbers, dealing with ignorant customers and re folding a shirt you have folded 10 times in a day does get on your nerves. I work in britians 2nd smallest primark so its not too bad. soon to be 3 floors though! Good luck to anyone joining, its easy and lots of fun as well!

apparently Millets does......does seem strange how everyone compains about certain places to work, McD's etc, yet they pay more than Primark and you can get more hours :s-smilie: lol

YEAH thats right!! That wasnt fair of them!! I work in Customer services in a different branch, we were told to advise the ppl to go to Primark.co.uk to download application forms and hand them in but definately not refuse CV's, sorry to hear that...

Anyone doing night shifts at Primark? can you give me your views.

Also did anyone print the application form from the primark website and handed that in?
(just wondering is that form universal for all the stores)

and what did you write in the Skills/Experience section?

what ive wrote
From working as a waiter and kitchen assistant I am use to being on my feet and carrying heavy objects.
I am prepared to work hard have been working 6 days a week roughly 55 hours for the past 12 months.
Skills that I have developed in the kitchen are working to a time scale because customers are waiting
and staying clam and work well under pressure. now hire me!!!

yh i was surprised they told me id be working in customer service aswell! i cant wait though
ill be working at the branch in oxford street. which one do you work at? x

You have go to be absolutley mental!! i went there once and it was absolute mayhem and disfunction, i work in waitrose and at times it is really busy, but nothing like the mentalness of oxford street primark!
I would hate working in primark now though, as in my section our standards are so high (especially when one of our bosses is in) and i would probally spend all my time trying to tidy up the mess that the customers make in primark!

I work at Primark at Meadowhall in Sheffield. It is busy and all that but you get paid - at least thats something hey, its better than nothing! :p:
I guess every job has its ups and downs, but a job's a job so deal with it!

I didn't like Primark at first but now, been working there for 3 months, its totally different! I think its because of the lack of my confidence and my self esteem not being out in the "real world" much as I am just a college student and my career has just started. More experience is more jobs for me thats what I say.

I know working there is different because there is no staff discount and there is a uniform (all black) and you feel like you're going to a funeral! :indiff:

But there is an opportunity if you want a job - just GO FOR IT don't be so picky all the time! :yep:

I have my induction there tomorrow. Seems wierd that you have to know how to do every aspect of the job (tills, stockroom etc..) as they move you about. As long as I don't have to take complaints I'll be ok.

I applied to Primark closing date was 18th Sept. Just wondering when did they contact you for interview? Am guessing I didnt get the job

Also why do you think they chose you? what was good about your app form...

Working at Primark got me through uni. The pay's not the best and you're always on your toes and often have to work unpaid overtime at the end of the day to get the store looking nice, but if you need regular, flexible work, it's great. Approach a manager with your CV and look interested. I got a weekend job there after doing this when they weren't even advertising and got the job on the spot, purely because of showing a bit of initiative. See how you feel about the place after working there for 4 years though, like I did.
