The "I've been pooled" thread

I think its safe to say now what I thought they'd hold off for later on-the fact is, they'll make us stage a Gladiators-style fight to the death for the remaining places, and then inform the victors that they're rejected anyway.

This is what UCAS and SAQ has come to....

We're all too cool for SAQ, we should just all make our own university, like in that (slightly bad) film.

If any of those at the colleges doing the fishing now ever came across this thread, I think they'd have a problem fishing out a vaguely sane candidate. :biggrin:

Although we might not be going to Cambridge we're some of the cleverest people of our age group in this country, yet we act like this when we get pooled.

Such an interesting thread from a psychological point of view. Of course I'm guilty of all this crazy too

Well, giving people such an ultimatum and then expecting the hope and despair not to crush people would be illogical. I don't think people should be treated in this way, given a Yes or No, like being romantically strung along. Only by a lover who's in the list of the top ten lovers of the world.

Everyone here is basically got a chance remaining in being given an offer with no interview, am I right?

Discarding the lucky/unlucky few who have been called up for more interviews. All my luck to you guys, and everyone else!

Hey everyone, just come online for the first time today :smile: What's new since last night? Can someone summarise? :biggrin:

I have noticed that I am now able to log onto the SAQ for the first time in the pooling process, but it still says my initial college (Jesus). That somewhat quelled my initial rush of excitement at being able to log on!! LOL - I'll say here what I said in the SAQ Theory (part 1) thread just now - I don't know if someone else has hypothesised this already, but it might be that a key point in the pooling process has been reached, and all people who haven't been 'fished' have now reverted to the same status as those who were initially accepted or rejected after interview - remember that pretty much all people receiving offers or rejections were able to log on, whilst we poolees were not??

Logic would suggest, sad though it is, that those not offered a place by another college by this stage might just have had their applications pretty much 'closed' if you get where I'm going here - unless, of course, they are one of the EXTREMELY lucky ones to be taken back by the college that pooled them!

It's beyond reason for all of us now-able-to-log-on poolees to ALL be taken back by the college that pooled us - it cannot happen, which is why I'm leaning towards the more negative reasoning behind the fact we can log on! Personally, I'm becoming increasingly convinced that I'm out of the running, which is sad for me of course, especially since at least 4 of the other people on my IB course who applied to Oxbridge (only 8 people applied AT MOST!) have received offers!! :-(

Hope I'm not dampening the mood too much - or maybe you're all beginning to wonder similar things to me, even if you're not saying them necessarily :biggrin:

Just think about all those poolees across the country who have not heard from cambridge yet and have no idea about this forum. Most of them won't have checked SAQ etc or have any idea about it and are just sitting there in blissful ignorance hoping to get a phonecall soon....what I would give to be one of those people...Must be nice not to have all tha malarky we creating on for oursevles on here.

Aha deadpan, can't beat it. I said that jokingly to a friend last night and they looked at me in horror and I was like "Peeesh only joking."

Well, remember people, we might get offers without an interview now!

(Thats my irresponsible hope lift done for the evening)

Some people who were pooled have found Track has been updated as unsuccessful now. That could be because different colleges are updating at different times, or it could be that some pooled people at this stage are being rejected while others are still being considered for after the interviews.
