That's what it sounds like. :frown:

That's a tough choice to make if they do choose to give you a deferred offer.
Why? As it's the uni making the change to year of entry, you can still accept an offer for 2010 as your firm alongside an insurance offer for 2009 - I'm sure someone did that last year. If you make the offer - gap year ahead; if not, your insurance awaits in September.

Hey, guys. Sorry for all those who have been rejected! :frown: i feel so saaad...

I got a weird email from the college that reinterviewed me. They ask whether Id consider deffering my application until OCt 2010! does that mean they want me, and are willing to give an offer but for the 2010 academic year?

So does this mean that they really like you, but they simply haven't got enough space? That's a shame- but yes- I would definitely take it!!! Well done.

I'm pretty sure that I've been rejected, having seen two people on this forum who were called today with offers for the subject and college that I was interviewed for and at, last Thursday.

I guess I'm disappointed but also feel liberated in some strange way... possibly due to waiting for so long, but I think also from the pressure put on me (inadvertently) by my family.

And good luck everyone who still hasn't heard, and congrats to everyone that got offers today!

Me too

I meant the choice between taking an unexpected and possibly unwanted gap year for Cambridge, or going to another university. Though obviously I don't know whether or not she wants to take a gap year.

Me too

:bawling: It does suck, actually.

I'm trying to make it sound okay, but it's not much fun finding out this way, eh?!

yeah, exactly, i never considered a gap year. but if i got rejected i would probably reapply.
im not sure whether i have the offer yet. they kinda implied it. i really hope it means "yes". will see.

But taking a gap year for the sake of cambridge does seems like a hard decision, considering that the college that gives me this offer is not what i really want. but its cambridge.

and you guys, who are still swimming, i feel positive about it, and almost sure that most of you will get offers soon. fingers crossed!!

No, it's not. A complete silence when other people have heard has to be fairly low down on the list of bad ways to hear! I'm trying to preserve a brief whisp of hope, but, really, they would have rang everyone today... :frown:

If I was given a deferred offer from Homerton I would be exceptionally tempted to just reapply to a different college, but only because I felt I didn't do myself justice at interview. It's a risky option, though (that probably goes without saying :p:)

My last bit of hope is that maybe we've been taken back by our original colleges?

I know that in the FB group for the one I applied to there is only one person doing English. Though I guess that's not really an indication of anything but that the others have things to do beyond the internet! :p:

Well a couple of pages ago I did say that tomorrow is the last day that colleges decide who they want to give offers to out of the people they re-interviewed. So hopefully we'll hear by the end of this week either way...
Hi fellow swimmers, haven't been on here for 2 days so didn't know about the status changing to undergraduate pool - I checked and mine still says my original college. From what I've gathered from the previous posts I'm guessing this is probably bad news compared to having 'undergraduate pool' which could mean that you are still swimming...?

Anyway, haven't had a phonecall, email or letter about imminent rejection and haven't received a rejection via UCAS either but good luck and fingers crossed for all those still swimming, can't be long now

I've seen that some are considering applying next year but I don't think I'll be one of those - my second choice will have to do for me!

Thank you, although I know nothing can replace/compare to history at Cambridge in my mind but LSE definitely comes close (or so this has been drummed into me over the duration of the last week by teachers and family alike  )

Good luck to you too - are you still swimming?
Fingers, toes and every other 'crossable' body parts crossed

im not entirely sure whether im swimming or not. i think homerton wants to give me an offer, but for deffered entry ...
will ring them tomorrow and find out.
and to be honest, oxbridge does seem to be overestimated! if you check RAE results they are not so brilliant... so if someone (not excluding me)does not get in, take it easy, guys. there are so many great unis... they just dont have that prestige that oxbridge seems to enjoy and sell. :p:

A deferred entry, is better than an ouright rejection so well done, but it depends on how much you really want to go Cambridge and if you can spend your gap year productively I guess.
This pool has kind of numbed me on the whole Cambridge front (not saying no to offers here!) so I am ok with going to LSE.
In terms of RAE, for History, Cambridge has the best 2008 RAE rating after Oxford while LSE is quite far behind but anyway...

Oh, I see then. But history of art at Cambridge, according to RAE, is not that good at all. Overall, Camridge is, of course, the best. but if you look at some individual subjects, you wil be shocked by Cam's terrible perfomance.

but cambridge is cambridge. its a bit special, i guess.

"What makes you think they'd have you at Homerton? Sorry you didn't get in, but get over yourself".

Apparently it was 'Camdon' that neg repped me! Is he or she not meant to be an admissions officer? If so, I need to try and avoid him or her when I reapply as it seems they don't like me! :frown:

My Story: If anyone gives two flying flugs...

Originally interviewed to read English at Girton College- December.

Got pooled in January.

Didn't hear anything at all.

Could log into that SAQ thing... but nothing changed on it at all.

Didn't get an interview or an offer...

Until this morning.

Girton gave me an offer in the end. Mentalists.
They is a fishing from their own... pond.

I had a phonecall yesterday from the admissions office but I was at school. Phoned them back this morning and I have an offer!
x
I emailed King's to see if they could tell me any news.

They couldn't. Seems like a neverending wait.

SAQ is still at King's so with any luck i will have the same fortune as malibu and get an offer from them (my original college). Chances - slim(yet again nothing in post).
