This is like being in purgatory. or Limbo.

It's worse. I'd rather be dead.
Just for me...

Whats pooling??

I've basically been posting on here since I got my pooling letter. I did stop... But then I got my phonecall. Lol

Lol thank god you aren't doing SPS. I will get angry with other SPSers on TSR who get pooled and then offers! Did you get a phone call today?!

I felt like this until I took a visit to my local opium den; now I feel great.

Hmmm that might be a good plan - get so high I don't know where Cambridge is let alone what I'm meant to be doing there. Then when I get rejected I won't care either.
If it was good enough for Coleridge... !

Where have you been pooled from/what for?

Ah, well done - I've got a good friend who was rejected for the same course today, also from St Catz.

I probably met her when I went up for interview, 10th (I assume it's her because there was one other guy there and he was from Yorkshire and you're not).
No, I think she was interviewed on the 8th.

Do Colleges offering places without interview always call instead of send letters? Do they email?

They may call, email or write.
I was just chuckling away there as I thought it said "I've been pulled"

I thought "aw that's nice - everyone deserves to get sum" but now it appears I was mistaken.

Applied to Downing for Biological Natural Sciences. 81% on the UMS for Biology and 80% for Chemistry (90% in Physics and 98% in Maths), with 8A* at GCSE so I dount I was automatically pooled. I'd like to hope I did very well in the interviews, hence my being in the pool even with barely A-grades in the two most-important subjects, but I think there were a few other parts of my application that might have also been good but which won't directly help me if I'm invited back for another interview. Overall I expect to be rejected if it's the case that I didn't perform very highly at the interviews.

You pool-ys seems to know what you're talking about with it all so I would appreciate some advice?

(Just got rejected Clare college philosophy)

According to the pooling guideline it says...

All applicants in this round (except those for Medicine) who are not offered places by their preference Colleges but have attained both 7A*s or more at GCSE and 90% or more in each of their three best/most relevant (i.e. where the subject at a particular College has subject preferences at A/AS level) AS Level subjects MUST be pooled in category P if not in another category.

Now... I got 9A* at GCSE and 3 AS's 94% (admittedly one was general studies...the others Biology and RE) but also 3 other AS's at 88/89%...
So... leeeetle pissed off :p: ...

Is it worth an e-mail/ phone call do you think?!

I know I technically fall just below the mark but stilll... I have nothing to lose... it's not like they can do anything to me now!!

I so wanted to be at least pooled :frown:

(Good luck to everybody waiting  )

Don't think they count general studies, that's why.

well i don't think u can ring them now because the pooling procedure ended 3rd Jan at 5pm.
1. I'm sure they don't count GS so you wouldn't meet the criteria (even thouh it's only by 1%)

2. The pool was closed today (well, technically yesterday, it's past midnight) at 5 PM, so there really is no point.

If it makes you feel better, call, but I'd say the Admission staff is busy enough at the moment. Sorry about your rejection though, I'll probably join you soon .
