Wait I have school tomorrow for three days! What if they ring and there's nobody at home :frown:

Oh dear...and I realised something which blew a major dent in my hope: Last year of the 51 or so Land Economy applicants that were pooled, roughly 15 were offered places. 4 of these places came from New Hall and the other 4 from Newnham! That leaves the chance of getting fished at just 7/51 for a boy! Like me!

how do you find out how many people were pooled for each subject?

Don;t you just wish you were a girl now. Me too, a little.
I found the numbers of people who got offers from the pool,(50 for law) but not the number that were pooled, where can i find that?
As far as TSRs concerned the following colleges have made offers, right-

Homerton
Fitzwiliam
Newnham
Jesus
Murray Edwards

Any more to add?

You realise that the pool's gender ratio is not necessarily 50:50, right? I wouldn't say it's unreasonable to postulate that if a college had one space for 2 applicants, one male and one female, both of whom they felt were (equally) deserving, they might be more inclined to take the boy and pool the girl as she may have a greater chance, with Newnham/NH taken into account, so there may well be more girls in the pool ergo more of them fished out, but not necessarily in a higher proportion.

And it's not 7/51. It's 7/43 as 8 have already been taken out of the pool in said equation :p:

oh I know someone who got fished by selwyn.
could someone link where they're getting last year's pooling stats from (by subject), ie number pooled, and number of offers made
thanks
I applied to study maths at Churchill, got pooled, and (this morning) got an offer from Homerton.

Now for the hard part: actually getting my predicted grades :s-smilie:

Good thing I didn't take maths haha. True, but at least I had the feeling of a 15 in 51 chance (sort of) and now its only 7 in 43....ahhhh well. Statistic are always misleading anyway.

Who knows, maybe only 15 people are in the pool this year.

Thanks for the reply. But the thing is, I'm an EU applicant, so should I email them tomorrow or wait a couple of days for the letter to arrive. The reason why I haven't received a letter is because of the post to get over to my country. But maybe it would be best to email...
Overseas people are often sent emails - so I should email them tomorrow. The worst that can happen is that there's no reply - but that's unlikely!

A partial-Economist not taking Maths? Scandalous  Good luck with the pool! *throws life preserver* But anyway, I repeat my theory on a skewed gender ratio in the pool, so throwing away the stats is a perfectly good idea as this is not unconditional probablity :p:

I've sent them an email, and from the track record the reply will come during lunchtime at school but not before school starts. I'm now debating between checking my email during lunch anyway (and being snippy at people for the rest of the day) or waiting until I get home. Ack.

I can find info on the number of pool offers, but not the number of people in the pool for each subject
