OzzBozz, where did u find out how many ppl were pooled last year for land economy or how did you calculate that??

Well I don't have any actual data, I merely used the probability of recieving an offer from the pool (1 in four) and used last year's application statistics (257 or something) and made calculations from there.

Jaysus
I'm having the same problem
Help us

*Throws in fish-food* :p:

This is becoming quite the melodrama. Carry on people.

And Good Luck!

Anyone heard anything for SPS at any colleges (interviews or descisions)?

Nah, nothing a all
Firstly, I do realise that a lot of us won't be called...but I'm trying to be optimistic! I just wanna get a place =)

And yeah, I am happy for my friend, even if I didn't sound it! She gets all the luck =).

257 apply
1 in 4 get an offer = 64 recieve offers
1 in 5 get pooled = 51
therefore 142 get rejected
of the 51 pooled, 1 in four get an offer = 13

there we are

*edit - wait a minute! thats not how i did it before... *goes back to drawing board*

It's 1 in 5 : "Around one in six applicants are pooled, and of these, around one in five receives an offer of a place."

And also you need to factor in interviews or not, because of the people that get interviews, half of them get in.

not according to the info sheet -3174 poolees, 794 pool offers = almost excatly 25% or 1 in 4.
Does anyone know if the 93 pooled applicants who received an offer from their original college are included in 'offers through pool' stats?
Stop worrying!

Yeah...I think they changed it on the website though as there are so many more applicants this year :s-smilie:
Murray-Edwards have just rang to say I have an interview on Thursday. I feel bad but I'm gutted. I live fairly fair away, I have enough work to do without interview preparation, and I've always been to an all girls school so really didn't want a girls college. I'm really disappointed, I preferred waiting, and now this is it. Sorry to whinge.

well done on getting fished[ish] though! go along for the interview, tak a good look around the college and decide if you like it :yep: then if you get an offer you can make a more informed choice
Just so you guys can keep up to date with the fishing activities of colleges, my friend got called up by Selwyn and they've asked her to come for an interview.

Hey I'm pretty new at this whole Student Room thing, but I wanted to join in the pool discussion.

I was originally a Magdalene English applicant, I got my decision letter yesterday putting me in the pool, and I got phoned up by Selwyn a couple of hours ago, and they gave me an offer. I'm in such a state of shock!

And in reply to Sadie, I think the 93 people who got offers from their original college are included in the 500-odd who got offers without secondary interviews, since they wouldn't need another interview with their first college. Magdalene are fans of pooling people then giving them offers at the last minute I think - I know someone in their first year there who had that happen to them. Nasty tactic - but I suppose it assures them the best people going.
