i got pooled to murray edwards too and have an interview on fri. I don't know what to think, I never even considered applying to an all girls college as I've always been at an all girls school. Will see how it goes on friday.

for English I can't work anything out - I mean if 29 got offers through the pool for it last year, looking at the stats there should have been around 120 poolees. But there were 881 applicants = only around 1 in 7 pooled. Either that or less than one in four got offers through the pool for English.

urgh. I don't think number - crunching is going to get me anywhere. all I can do is wait.

lol, we are such worriers(spelling??) We have at least 3 to 4 days to be called up for an interview or, dare I say it an offer!!! Bah! What can you do but worry, worry, worry, and worry!
The worst thing, is that I was worrying with my friend about worrying about pooling, we talked for half an hour, then 20 mins later she got called up from selwyn!!!

ahh another magdalene english applicant! 4 on tsr - that could be up to 10% of the total lol :p:

I was originally a Magdalene English applicant, I got my decision letter yesterday putting me in the pool, and I got phoned up by Selwyn a couple of hours ago, and they gave me an offer. I'm in such a state of shock!

but this means that magdalene have pooled at least 4 english applicants - and they normally only have 1 success per year from the pool - so now I have very little hope :p:

Well, looking at last years stats, out of the 700ish offers, 285 I think were to applicants who had a second interview, and about 509 odd poolers get interviews. But of course, there is no saying that will hold true this year :p:

Well done! Your grades must be exceptional?

10 A*s and GCSE and six As at AS, four of which were 90%+ UMS (three if you exclude general studies) - so I guess grades do have a fair bit to do with it. I reckon your first choice college probably give you some kind of reference as well though - any fact-remembering robot can get straight As, but an impressive interview could show oodles of potential.
