The "I've been pooled" thread

To those people who have been offered deferred 2010 places, there is still a chance - as long as you make it clear to the college which fished you - that you could enter in 2009. There are often 2009 accepted applicants who, later in the year after receiving their offer, request to defer to 2010. If this happens, a 2009 space can open up and you might be able to take it.

Do you think that already applying for deferred entry will help or hinder me in the pool? On one hand they are asking people to defer, but on the other surely the people who want to come asap are the priority.
Aaaaahhhh! I'm really beginning to over analyse, I've just gone through the statistics from last year to find out how many people were fished out for AMES and which colleges. Why can't they make their final decisions and then let us know? - the people who are pooled and then rejected should just get a letter saying that and the pooled, then interviewed people will have a wonderful surprise.

just been pooled by queens', spoke to the admissions office on the phone and found out. i was told that i would get told whether i'd get an offer from another college or an interview, and the wait is going to be torturous... :frown:

Just got pooled from Selwyn

though just thought of this

the admissions must have just gotten my email ( i emailed them on friday)
and told me i was pooled

but the pool is over right? and if you don't get fished out then your application goes back to your original college and they handle your rejection...if the selwyn admissions office already knows the outcome of the pool and i was not picked up by another college, why wouldnt they just reject me? why get my hopes up? so does this mean i've been fished out by another college?

um yeah that might sound crazy, it's 4 am (i can't sleep) but I wanted to get your theories

the SAQ theory was right in my case btw. My application was no longer active before I even knew i was pooled.

The pool isn't over. To my understanding, Colleges can contact you throughout the week as they're sorting through applications now. That's how it worked last year.

any other Mathematians pooled by Trinity?
By statistics, we have a fairly high chance of receiving an offer, but it seems to me that trinity pooled loads and loads of people this year!
I am feeling stressed and cant do any proper work in lessons...

yep i was pooled by trinity...still waiting lol.

Ah, the two Oxford candidates from my school were rejected w/o interview, the other Cambridge applicant got rejected on Saturday, I am now the schools only hope lmao. If I don't receive any word today I'm just going to assume the worst.

We had about 40 people apply for Oxbridge, 25 for Cambridge and 15 for Oxford (or so).
Two people have Oxford offers and 4 have Cambridge offers, 2 more pooled. Possibly our worst year to date.

As for being offered a 2010 place, I said I would take it on the SAQ, but financially I couldn't afford to. Any foreseeable consequences?
