Hello,

I have a problem and I don't know how major it is (and yes I have been pooled too; I'm thinking it's a good thing because I never thought I stood a chance to even be acknowledged). When I applied to Cambridge, I never received the SAQ which means I have no SAQ! Still got an interview but everyone keeps talkign about the SAQ and I still don't know why they haven't sent it to me.
Oh by the way, I'm an international.
So how much does my not-having-an-SAQ affect where I stand on the application decision? What does it mean anyway?

I got the link when I applied, but the form on the SAQ asked whether I filled out the COAF (which us internationals had to do), and then it simply let me skip filling out the rest. So the college has the information that the SAQ asks for at least.
No letter, no email, no SAQ, No phone call...godamnit someone put me out of my misery!

I wouldn't say that. I'd guess that if the SAQ changes, that might be an offer without interview. And for those that are reinterviewed, the SAQ still doesn't work because no decision has been made?! Just my guess.

I like your theory... I don't care if it's false hope, it feels good! I just wish they'd get a move on and let me know!
i feel sad
all this false hope i've been enjoying has slowly evaporated thanks to this saq business
down with clever people, that's what i say.

well done!
Can I get a bit of info- I've got an interview at Newham on friday; does that mean I cannot get another interview or direct offer? I'd be grateful for any small drop of knowledge so that I can get on with my revision. I am glued to all your updates- good luck

Yes, you have a second chance to interview and impress Newnham or you are off to uni elsewhere.
Hi, it seems like this SAQ thing is putting pooled ppl into frenzy somehow.

Trying to give myself (also pooled) some hope,

I tried to sum up this SAQ issue, with most optimism I can put upon it.

So

1. If you got direct offer, your SAQ changes to the assigned college.

2. If you haven't got direct offer, your SAQ is unavailable, for both interviewees and non-interviewees.

These two seems to be the theory most ppl are insisting on.

However, I would like to add to it.

3. Not all decisions on direct offers are made yet, or at least they have not been updated fully for all colleges.

- I was applicant at Corpus and as mail didn't come, I had to phone them, and the administration officer said they are still busy sending away posts to interviewees (which I thought should've been sent on the second)

I think this indicates that working rate are not same with all colleges and therefore updating of SAQ will be all over the 5th-10th period as indicated.

The fact that some ppl found their SAQ getting re-activated later than others (some on 4th, some on 5th) backs this up.

With the small sample, it will be too dangerous to guess at this point..

but what do you guys think of my opinion?
i think you're spot on. There is definately something right about this 'SAQ phenomenon' but colleges and subject departments will work at different rates so this will probably go on until the 10th.

A friend of mine was pooled and has an interview, but still has an inactive SAQ. Speculation is pointless methinks.

Wow, some better news at last! Hope is still alive
Aaaah - been at school today, come back to this thread, looked at all this hoopla about SAQs...so i checked mine......and it now says CHURCHILL COLLEGE!

What does this mean? Offer or Interview? Please, SOMEONE reply!!!

From the little evidence we have it would mean that you have an offer. But I wouldn't count on it, obviously.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH

(sorry, little attention seeking there)

I've also read insongy's wonderfully helpful post (thanks), but i just dont want to believe it......

Hey, does anyone know whether at a second interview after pooling the new college is likely to use the essays etc you submitted to the first one?

I need to find them if that's the case!

hey, i was wondering the same. i think having a look at them is the best option- better to play it safe. Have they told you what kind of interview your getting? I've got 1 for 40 mins and have to discuss a source. bleurgh :P

Same. But mine's 30 mins. I have to get there half an hour before to read.

Neither of my interviews at St John's were source based :s-smilie:
