is it true that uni places are first come first served?or that when the deadline in jan comes they start processing the applications?

the sooner its sent, the longer the time will be for the person to look at it

Not being an admissions tutor I cant give you a proper answer, but seeing as I recieved most of my offers before christmas there must be some element of forst come first served.

However universities do have to consider anyone who applies before the deadline so probably if you apply early you might get considered for 30 minutes and if you get your form to them on the day of the deadline you will get considered for 30 seconds - which would you prefer?

Everyone I've spoken to thinks that it is first come first served, but some Uni's, like LSE, make a point of not offering anyone places until everyone's application has come through. I guess it depends on the Uni.

I'm the parent of someone who applied to UCAS last year. We bought a book called "How to fill out your UCAS form" (or something like that - I can't put my hands on it at the moment). It stated there that it paid to get your form in asap because the admissions tutors had more time to look at them. I can't verify it, but I think it said you might actually get a lower offer at this time. If you can get your hands on this book you should have a look at it.
