What can I say? the place haas no character, its all concrete, looks like they contracted 1950's soviets for the job and there's duck **** everywhere, literally, that was a nice final touch.

i know...i felt depressed. where was all that green parkland they're always banging on about? it was like a concrete prison block with a dirty great swamp in the middle
I don't think the campus is that bad at all - and moreover, the actual city of York is literally one of the nicest places I've ever been to. Beautiful, convinced me to make York my first choice.

noooooo its not ugly! the green parkland was underneath the nasty melting snow. and it does have character, i promise - its just that its character is a certain concrete charm... :frown:
Honestly, it's pretty on a nice day - just not on a cold horrible day with snow!

Oo yes, good point - the city is lovely too

If you base your decisions on how pretty the places you visit are, then I'm glad we don't have people like you coming to our University.

Here here. York is a lovely place. Yes the buildings might look 60's but that is because they are but they are renovating. Also it is great in the summer. And the duck poo is cleaned evey week. They employ special ppl to do it. Go York. Its my number 1

i suppose i went on a rainy cloudy day, and the all greyness made me depressed. (the ducks were no compensation). i might go and see it again on a sunny day. plus i didnt get a tour when i went and didnt see the town. plus i had an interview which didnt put me in a good mood when i was there. now ive got my offer i think ill be needing some rose coloured specks.

yeah the campus isn't a f*cking landscape garden, get over it. The university is in the top 10 in the country, the teaching standards are excellent, the people here are a lovely, the city is beautful. York's awesome, take it from me.

hey yorks alrite, what do u expect? a uni inside a forest or something? go for substance over style in this case.
well the concrete did put me off, but i was walking round the lake last wednesday and found myself in a duck poo field, which i stepped in. I guess cuz it was wet/snowy and everything looked grey it put me off. The paths were also mashed. I found it funny that they took us to the best accomondation (J block) and wouldn't let us see the other ones.
and yes I ****in expect the place i live in for 3 years to be a paradise of fit girls, cheao booze and warm comfortable and clean accomondation.
York is my second choice at the mo though and I have to agree it is still a very good uni

Agreed, the guys arent much to look at either :frown:
I actually thought that girls were generally fairly good looking in York, from my visit yesterday.
You went yesterday, so did I, for politics. That open day was short. I was there for about 2 hours, for 4 hours travelling. I suppose you're going to Warwick next week?

ive applied for english, and strictly speaking, york has the best reputation for english out of all the places ive got offers from. it was my first choice b4 i went there. now im not so sure. the campus really put me off bad style which is a shame coz i had high hopes and expectaions for york, i really thought id be going there.
