No as longa s you didnt crash into another car your fine I do that all the time
um not sure to the legality of it. but lots of people do that sort of thing, and i think police have better things to do than spend ages looking through cctv to see if someone is doing a (possibly) illegal 3 point turn

I was in town and was stuck in a massive traffic line so I did a quick three point turn on a main road (there was no oncoming traffic). My question is was I allowed to do this? As it is a busy road with lots of shops (and cameras) and I have only had my licence less than a week. Am i likely to get a fine or anything?

I wouldnt woory. I did one one a main road that was very busy..... whilst my driving instructor looked for oncoming traffic

Highway Code says it's OK if done safely unless you break some other regulation to do it (e.g. one-way street, crossing a solid line etc.)

thats made me feel better! thanks!

No you won't get a fine.

(Although you should use your initiative and not decide to do a three point turn on a blind bend - something I saw someone doing a few days ago!)

No it's fine. Obviously don't try on a motorway or somewhere equally stupid (Oh, you'd be amazed what people do)

Nah it was not a blind spot. It was on a str8 road and all the other drivers looked shock or gave me a dirty look so I got worried. I think they were just pissed of then that I used my initiative and saved myself from traffic

thanks to everyone for there advise!

According to the highway code, the appropriate response to that is to blast your horn and stick up your middle finger.

Round here, most of them just do massive U turns, going onto the pavements on both sides of the road while they are at it. :/

The ones in Cardiff mount the pavement to overtake queues of traffic!

Pavement is only an extenstion of the road.

If you didn't cause an accident/hit anyone then it's fine.

My sat nav went crazy once and told me to do a U-turn on the motorway, now that would've been bad...

Its fine unless there is a solid line down the middle of the road, a one way street, or a dual carriageway... or if there are signs saying no u-turns.

If you did it in a stupid place then in theory they could do you for dangerous driving, but doesnt sound like thats the case here. Plus speed cameras are only triggered by fast moving cars - i would hope you were doing less than 30mph during the three point turn.

It wouldnt be part of the driving test if it was illegal.
Highway Code: 6. Reversing (200 to 203)Rule 200 states:Choose an appropriate place to manoeuvre. If you need to turn your vehicle around, wait until you find a safe place. Try not to reverse or turn round in a busy road; find a quiet side road or drive round a block of side streets. It's basically road etiquette. Just because there are knobs that do three point turns on busy roads doesn't make it ok.
