At my old secondary school they were :
Ancholme (mine)
Bain
Rase
Witham

they were all named after the rivers that ran through the area and depending on where you lived in regard to each river depended on what house you went in to.
Ancholme was aways the best, closely followed by Bain with Rase being absolutely rubbish at everything!

mine was CJD (which sounded weird whenever we were shouting for our house in interhouse competitions :p:)
My primary didn't have houses when I was there - they do now apparently though.

My secondary school's houses were:

Austen,
Bronte,
Cavell,
Davis,
Elliot,
Fry,
Gaskell and
Hepworth (Mine, we were rubbish at everything lol)

All famous women in history, apt seen as it was an all girl's school lol.

Named after local beaches. Houses were only started when I was in sixth form, and everyone thought it was pretty pathetic really.

In the senior part of our school (years 9 to 13) they were just named after whatever boarding house you were in, with the girls and boys houses joined in pairs, so:
[girls]
School
Summerhill
Fonthill (mine)
[boys]
Upper
Middle
Hall (bet you thought I was gonna say 'Lower', but no, that would have made sense)
In the lower school (years 7 and 8) there were two houses split into two interhouses:
[girls]
Beaconfield (Beckford and Hamilton)
[boys]
Westwood (Cusworth and Posnett)

I think with you they might want you to go back anyway.
North, South, East and West. Then they changed them to Delta, Sigma, Lamba and 3 other Greek names!
Used to be Mayas, Incas and Aztecs

They're now Orwell, Hawking, Mee and Pankhurst
