My shoulder

I have had to practise my violin a lot this week for a something important (those who know what keep quiet!!!!) and I think my shoulder upper arm area has kind of siezed up. I never usually play the violin this much so I reckon my shoulder isn't used to it.
It hurts when I move my arm when my violin is on it is really hurts but I can put up with it long enough to do what I have to do. I do use a shoulder rest though which has helped.

Anything I can to make it better very very quickly

try things like deep heat or placing something hot on the muscles (you can special bena bag thinsg that go in the microwave) to help the muscles, similarly something like a sauna or really hot bath are good for generally achiness

good luck!

SOunds like a touch of Repetitive Strain Injury to me! I had it last year from playing the viola too much. I was given a large dose of anti-inflammatories and told to not practice for at least two weeks! :frown:

Ibuprofen gel gently rubbed in AND an ibuprofen tablet before you go to bed.... worked wonders with my bad shoulder (not from violin, I hasten to add) and it always works for ski aches too.

Without meaning to sound discouraging, I couldn't play the flute or viola all summer because of it :frown:
Painkillers are working I can actually play again.

Hurrah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be careful not to use JUST pain killers (like paracetemol), ibuprofen will help to relax the muscles and thus help untangle the knot / seizure. You can take paracetemol and ibuprofen together (as long as you are not allergic to them - or have asthma!)
