How lenient are universities on results day?

In general, how lenient are universities if you fail to meet their exact entry requirements?

I'm not talking about horrifically competitive universities/courses, but the more moderate but still slightly competitive courses.

Say you were given an offer conditional to AAB, but missed an A by only a few UMS points and gained ABB.. would the universities reject you immediately, or would they probably let you in if they were your firm?

Thanks.

missing out by a grade can *sometimes* get you in.. just dont miss by a mile like i did..

it depends on the other people on the corse, if loads of people miss out, then you may still be offered a plce, if most of those with offers make it, you will be at a push to get in..

How much did you miss by if you don't mind me asking? What was their response like when you contacted them?
I missed by 8 UMS but they didn't let me in. Bastards
If it's Oxford, not at all.
If it's Bradford, yes very.

To sum up, depends how competitive the uni is.

they are soooo strict southampton was my firm they wanted AAB/ABBb (b in ma AS further maths) i got ABBc (c in further maths) and i got a big fat unsuccessfull called up they said the economics course is full up and suggested i apply to southampton solent ..i thought great!..kmt!

Universities don't receive your UMS scores by default do they?
Reply 7
Depends on the Universities and the course you applied to do.

My brother got into Imperial; predicted AAB, got ABB. I think it all depends on how popular the course is, and what the other candidates get.

Well my course is AAB to ABB and I got offered the AAB, so maybe they would be more lenient if I got the ABB because that's still in their usual offer?

Darling you being serious? I can't tell lol. I doubt any university would tell you to beg the likes of Southampton Solent for a place.

actually there's a girl on here who goes to Oxford and I think she missed her offer on results day, and they let her in anyway, but that's probably not how it usually goes!

if that was the offer AAB-ABB which is unusual then they will let you in as long as you meet the offer, HOWEVER if the typical offer (the one on their website) is AAB-ABB but they offered you AAB(the one on ucas) then if you don't meet the conditions they don't have to let you in ...they might tho

It does, doesn't? I noticed it to. I guess it's because it keeps replaying so thats why it looks that way.
