Hi

I'm writing a manual for a software product and one of the main features of the product is that it
can conduct an inventory of computers. According to www.m-w.com "inventory" can be used as a verb.
E.g. "All the computers will be inventoried".

What are your opinions on this? I really would like to use it as a verb or else lots of sentences
will become quite complicated.

Thanks in advance

English has a long history of verbing nouns, so if it makes your writing job easier without making
the reader's job harder, I'd say use inventory as a verb.

'inventory' is listed as a verb in my oldest dictionary - Pocket Oxford 1960.

Unlikely that the Pocket varies from the parent version so you have the full force of the OED
behind you -
